System Support Engineers
We are seeking skilled and motivated System Support Engineers to manage and maintain our IT infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and troubleshooting hardware, software, and network systems, ensuring the smooth operation of the university’s IT services. You will also provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students, ensuring prompt resolution of issues to minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and network components to ensure system stability and security.
- Technical Support: Provide prompt and effective technical support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement corrective measures to minimize downtime and maintain high service levels.
- System Upgrades: Plan and execute system updates, patches, and upgrades to keep IT systems secure and up-to-date.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with IT team members and other departments to support new technology initiatives, projects, and system integrations.
- Compliance: Ensure that IT systems adhere to university policies, industry standards, and security best practices.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in system administration, technical support, or IT infrastructure management.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux) and network protocols.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional technical support.
Desirable Attributes:
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional) are a plus.
- Experience working in an academic or institutional environment.
- A proactive approach to learning and implementing new technologies.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented setting.
