Garden Supervisor
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Garden Supervisor to help plan, develop, and eventually oversee the maintenance of our future campus gardens. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising gardening staff, planning and executing landscaping projects, and ensuring that all green spaces are designed and maintained to the highest standards. This role requires strong horticultural expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Garden Planning and Management:
- Collaborate with campus planners and landscape architects to design and implement garden layouts and landscaping projects for the future campus.
- Develop strategies for planting, watering, pruning, and overall garden upkeep in alignment with the university’s vision.
- Team Supervision:
- Plan for managing, training, and coordinating gardening staff as the campus becomes operational, ensuring efficient and safe task completion.
- Landscaping Projects:
- Work with the administration to design and implement sustainable landscaping projects that enhance the campus environment.
- Resource Management:
- Advise on procurement and management of garden supplies and equipment, including budget considerations for future operations.
- Irrigation & Sustainability:
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure effective irrigation and promote sustainable gardening practices.
- Health & Safety:
- Establish safety guidelines and protocols for garden maintenance that adhere to relevant health and safety standards.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with academic and administrative teams to integrate green spaces into the overall campus design and support environmental initiatives.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma or degree in Horticulture, Landscape Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in garden or landscape management, preferably in an institutional or large-scale setting.
- Strong understanding of horticultural practices, plant care, and sustainable gardening techniques.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage planning projects and work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
