Security Director
The Security Director will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive security strategies to ensure the safety of the campus community. This role involves overseeing all aspects of campus security, including risk management, emergency preparedness, and the management of security personnel and systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in security managemexnt and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential threats.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Security Planning:
- Develop and implement comprehensive security policies, procedures, and protocols tailored to the campus environment.
- Establish security goals that align with the university’s vision and operational requirements.
- Operational Oversight:
- Oversee daily security operations, including surveillance, access control, and incident response.
- Monitor and maintain security systems and technology to ensure their optimal performance.
- Team Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and supervise security personnel, ensuring high standards of professionalism and responsiveness.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and development opportunities for the security team.
- Risk Management & Emergency Preparedness:
- Perform regular risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential security threats.
- Develop and manage emergency preparedness plans, including crisis management and evacuation procedures.
- Collaboration & Coordination:
- Work closely with local law enforcement agencies, emergency services, and other stakeholders to coordinate security efforts.
- Advise university administration on security-related matters, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate security records and prepare regular reports for senior management.
- Ensure all security incidents are documented and reviewed to improve future responses.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in security management, preferably within institutional or large-scale environments.
- Strong knowledge of security systems, risk management, and emergency preparedness planning.
- Proven leadership and personnel management skills.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a background in defense services
Desirable Attributes:
- Relevant certifications such as CPP (Certified Protection Professional) or PSP (Physical Security Professional).
- Experience in security planning for new or developing campuses.
- A proactive approach to risk assessment and a commitment to implementing innovative security solutions.
- Continuous commitment to professional development and improvement in security practices.
